Built in 1972 on Dili's most prestigious avenue, this building has witnessed the arc of a nation, from Portuguese Timor, through the Indonesian era as Hotel Mahkota, to the flames of 1999 and its rebirth on the most symbolic date in Timorese history.
Reopened on May 20, 2002, the day East Timor declared independence, Hotel Timor stands as both a place to stay and a monument to resilience. A major refurbishment in 2014 brought the property to international standards while preserving the soul of the original building.
Today, 88 rooms and suites, a swimming pool, restaurant, and two function rooms serve diplomats, business travellers, and explorers who want to stay in the heart of everything.
